This vitamin should definitely supply your daily requirement of hard and fast punk rock with a metal edge! These Dutch demolition experts are infamous for their Youtube video “About To Crack”, which has millions of views. Well, if you’re hungry for a whole album of tracks just like that…fast, nasty and with attitude to spare…then dig in!
Here are 17 tracks that will race through your overheated brain faster than shit through a goose. VITAMIN X should appeal to thrash metal dudes, but like D.R.I and RAW POWER, the emphasis is more firmly on punk rock. The longest track is “Bite The Hand That Feeds” and that comes barreling in at a robust 2:30. Other tracks like “Wanna Be Me” and “It Never Ends” clock in at less than a minute. But this isn’t grindcore…it’s fast, thrashy punk rock. The short songs mean this thing moves like greased lightning and boredom is impossible.
The production is a bit more “twangy” than most crossover bands and that keeps VITAMIN X definitely in the punk rock camp, along with vocals that are more like an angry bellow than anything sinister. Hard to pick a favorite track, but “Sociopath” emerges as the best for me. And though the band can hardly be called “progressive”, they do inject enough identity into each track to provide notable differences in sound.
Nothing really deep here, but that’s not expected for this kind of music. “Ride The Apocalypse” is frenzied, fun and frantic…get your dose today!
