WRAITH     “Fueled By Fear”

By Theron Moore

Blackened thrashers WRAITH have been shattering eardrums for the last eight years but new recoed “Fueled By Fear” marks the band’s first release through Prosthetic Records. “Fueled By Fear” is a tasty little dish of super tight, speed/thrash which owes just as much to early METALLICA (first record) and SLAYER (early stuff) as it does to modern day blackened thrash kings, MIDNIGHT and BEWITCHER.

. Here's a good example of what I'm talking about. Listen to the guitar attack on the second song, "Fueled By Fear," and track three, "Horses And Hounds." There's a slight hint of a METALLICA influence rattling around in there. Track four is a slower, grinding, more SLAYER-esque, reminding me of "Piece By Piece" from “Reign In Blood”.

Now, let's understand each other before the hate mail and negative comments start flooding in. WRAITH isn’t ripping anyone off here, that’s not what I’m saying. “Fueled By Fear” is a 110% WRAITH in all their blackened, metal glory, and trust me, for a big label debut, “Fueled By fire” is a knockout. If “Code Red,” doesn’t win you over I can only assume you’re either dead inside or a NICKELBACK fan, which in my book, is pretty much the same damn thing. Mark my words, “Code Red” will be WRAITH’s most violent circle pitting song live.

WRAITH isn’t just another blackened thrash band. If you listen closely to the music on “Fueled By Fear”, they owe more to classic metal, some punk, and early black/death than anything else. Their Prosthetic Records debut is a crowd surfing, mosh pit hit. I can’t recommend it enough, it rocks! What more can I say except buy/stream this record when it becomes available and show the band some love this summer when they hit the road with EXCITER and HELLWITCH by going to see them and buying some merch. Horns up for “Fueled By Fear”.
