Oh, can you feel it? SHED THE SKIN’s fifth disc, “The Carnage Cast Shadows”, is what dirty, filthy death metal should sound and feel like. Alright, the cat’s out of the bag, SHED THE SKIN recently released their new metal opus, “The Carnage Cast Shadows”, May 16 via the great Hells Headbangers label. It’s 11 tracks of superior death metal that’ll rock your socks off and feed them to you for fun!
SHED THE SKIN hail from the current hotbed of all that is heavy metal, Cleveland OH, and are comprised of Kyle Severn (INCANTATION, PERDITION SECTt), guitarist Matt Sorg (RINGWORM, PERDITION SECT, SOULLESS, ex-BLOOD OF CHRIST), vocalist/guitarist Ash Thomas (CRUCIFIED MORTALS, SURGIKILL, THE VLADIMIRS, FAITHXTRACTOR), and bassist Ed Stephens (RINGWORM, SHOK PARIS, VINDICATOR, VANIK). A lot of familiar names, right? Any wonder why this record sounds so goddamn good?
By the time I got to track three, “Ice Hearted Herald,” I was confused. By now the album should’ve slowed, maybe a filler track as a bridge to tracks five, six and beyond but by Lucifer’s dark heart, this record was still locked into full on rage mode. “Ice Hearted Herald” is a helluva brutal bastard and one of the best tracks on this album but not as good as “Henge Tomb” which runs right over you with its steamroller attack of down tuned heaviness and thick wall of distortion.
I could go on and on about how great this record is, but you probably picked up on that already. SHED THE SKIN never disappoint and “The Carnage Cast Shadows” is a circle pit of tasty mosh and pit fiend death metal. Don’t be a poser, throw some elbows and check this out.
