DESEKRYPTOR “Vortex Oblivion”

Lovers of raw, violent, depraved shit...and there must be a few of you out there, otherwise why are you here?...should clap ears on the tortured example of death metal at its most unhinged. ‘Vortex Oblivion” is for those who like to scrape slime off their records before putting them on the turntable or in the player. Believe me, this Indiana band slathers the slime on thick and deep here.
I compare the band to English raw death metal bands such as GRAVE MIASMA and CRUCIAMENTUM. There’s definitely plenty of that “cavernous” INCANTATION feel to this, only coupled with the violence of raging war metal. The first track “Abysmal Resurrection” sounds like its coming from the far end of a wind tunnel, with murky riffing and impenetrable growls from a million miles away. At first, I thought I had to adjust the volume, but eventually I realized, this is the way DESEKRYPTOR wants to play the game. It will separate those who think SANGUISUGABOGG is “true death metal” from those who know the real thing when they hear it. There is not the least bit of novelty here, but the band just pours out the lava relentlessly and you get torched by the likes of “Festering Ulceration” and “Nervegas Crematorium”.
Those song titles clue you in what DESEKRYPTOR is up to. If they don’t tell you what kind of death metal to expect, I don’t know what will do the trick. Not the greatest thing I’ve heard, but for damn sure one of the ugliest. And that’s just the way they want it.
