APES "Penitence"

APES are everywhere these days...they've even got their own kingdom at the movies. These particular APES are from Montreal, Quebec and they make one hell of a racket.
"Penitence" blazes through the night like a Hellfire missle programmed for maximum destruction. Not much time wasted here, as this is more properly a mini album. The sound is an unholy concoction of raging grindcore Ala INSECT WARFARE and NASUM, wild and wintry black metal, dissonant death metal and doomed hard-core breakdowns. The vocals add their own horror with growls, shrieks and bellows. A fun time is guaranteed for all!
The band utilizes a three guitar attack, which gives them surprising depth, especially during the more black metal sections. "Shadow Walker" and "Bottom Feeder" in particular have some atmospheric sounds, But never doubt that APES are all about the rage and the racket. Quite a stew of extremity here...
