GRENDEL’S SYSTER “Katabasis Into the Abaton"

Running a long length in place comes something here that could simply be called rock, and it sounds like the musicians are having fun. The vocals here make it impossible to enjoy and would come in my mind as a required taste. The music is flat and tries for something; perhaps fun...yet I can make no sense out of how such a project came to be nor can I find a point to any of this. Often it sounds and feels like a bad 80s tv show that was on some off channel that lies somewhere forgotten...the Greek word engram comes to my mind. Happy, goofy, mildly metal music with a retro sound that bases on themes of medieval things closer to Monty Python than anything that could be taken too serious in such a context- making this a hard test to sIt through the entire listening experience. Here is something different, for sure, and not so much as well. I try for words and in defeat fail.
