Few bands have maintained the level of consistency that NUNSLAUGHTER has achieved over the course of their career. Decades into their existence, the Cleveland-based devil metal institution continues to release music with the same ferocity, conviction, and unapologetic attitude that made them underground legends in the first place. While countless bands lose their edge over time, NUNSLAUGHTER remains remarkably immune to creative decline. Long live Nunslaughter! HELL yes, horns up!
Their recent signing to BLKIIBLK marks another milestone in an already impressive legacy spanning decades. The band now has an opportunity to bring its brand of blasphemous chaos to even wider audiences through expanded touring and greater exposure. If any band deserves that platform, it's NUNSLAUGHTER and trust me, they won’t squander this opportunity.
Set for release on June 26, “Satanic Chaos Legions” serves as both an introduction for newcomers and a reaffirmation for longtime devotees. The album is an unrelenting assault that fuses black, death, and thrash metal into a savage and uncompromising whole. Every track crackles with the kind of raw energy and authenticity that has become an increasingly sought after element in extreme music. Either you have it or you don’t. NUNSLAUGHTER has it. And they’re not reaching for it, it comes naturally, you hear it in their music.
More than just another entry in their catalog, “Satanic Chaos Legions” feels like a statement of intent. It stands as a reminder that NUNSLAUGHTER remains one of the genre's most formidable forces, carrying forward the spirit of pioneers such as VENOM and CELTIC FROST while carving out a legacy entirely their own. There is no nostalgia at work here—only a band operating at full power and refusing to compromise. The intent is injury and damage. The result is destruction. Mission accomplished.
Having witnessed NUNSLAUGHTER's performance at Milwaukee Metal Fest a few years ago, I can attest to the sheer impact they have in a live setting. Their set was unforgettable, the kind of performance that recalibrates your expectations of what extreme metal can be. Remarkably, “Satanic Chaos Legions” captures much of that same intensity. Comparing a studio album to the experience of seeing NUNSLAUGHTER on stage is no small compliment, but in this case, it is entirely deserved.
I’m excited about NUNSLAUGHTER being signed to BLKIIBLK, their new record, and the possibilities that lie ahead for this band that deserves every success coming their way. Stream and buy “Satanic Chaos Legions”. Perfection.
