DEATHWISH

DEATHWISH     “The Fourth Horseman”

By Dr. Abner Mality

Glad to see something new from these Northern Wisconsin hellraisers! They are one of the best metallic punk bands in the Midwest and if you are looking for a short, sharp stab between the eyes, you have come to the right place. If anything, “The Fourth Horseman” is even leaner and meaner than their last ball-kicker “Unleash Hell”.

They hit the perfect mix of MOTÖRHEADish grit n’ grime, the piston-like attack of DISCHARGE-style d-beat and the frenzy of “action rock” like PETER PAN SPEEDROCK, ZEKE and the likes. Then you top that mixture off with a metallized production job that brings out the power and you got DEATHWISH. On “The Fourth Horseman”, we got 10 tracks that fly by at the speed of light. “In Cold Blood” is a good way to kick things off and the acerbic vocals of Bitty are even more spiteful than I remember. This guy sounds like he’d love to cut your mother’s throat.

They stick to what they know! “Rain Fire” thrashes by like a meteor, “Ace And Eights” gives you an idea what a genetic mutation combining MOTÖRHEAD and DISCHARGE would sound like, “Mainline Rock N’ Roll” would make ZEKE proud and they put it all together for the final title track, which had rabid froth gushing from my mouth.

Give this band some much needed love! Put ‘em on tour with somebody big...this is thrashpunk that hits like a jackhammer!
