Yes, friends, it's more Finnish metal from the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Now the Finns like their spacy and psychedelic stuff as much as they crave metal and with ENTHEOMORPHOSIS, we have a band that strives mightily to pierce the veil of the cosmos. It's a combination of members from DARK BUDDHA RISING and MR. PETER HAYDEN/PH/ENPHIN so weirdness is to be expected. The press sheet is full of mumbo jumbo about "alchemical transformation" and "cosmic dissolution". The lyrics are naturally in Finnish so any dissolution will have to come through the music itself.
It's a four track album with two monster cuts well over 10 minutes and two smaller tunes.I'm ready for anything, so let's go!
"Alkiema" begins with a prolonged seismic rumble before drum beats finally make their way in. This massive track builds itself up in layers and focuses on droning, massive doom riffs. It's not a million miles away from what DARK BUDDHA RISING does, but the vocals are a kind of high pitched yelling with zero melody. The track is a bit of a bulldozer, but dissolves into squalling guitar noise and tribal drumbeats. At about four and a half minutes, "Sikina" is pretty much wild guitar racket over thick pulsing bass and tribal drums. Coming in at less than two minutes, "Huntu" is a burst of cold cosmic synth sounds, leading into the final epic cut "Iaton", which is more crushing doom that again dissembles into floating chaos before gathering energy for a sudden and energetic climax.
I don't feel particularly "transformed" by "Pyha Kuilu", but this mass of psychedelic doom/drone did manage to hold my interest all the way through. If you want to leave Earth orbit for a half hour or so, give it a try.
