From Hamburg, Germany sleeze metal band NIGHT LASER has produced a rather engaging album with “Rats In The Cradle”. It delivers not only rock and metal, but funk, sleaze and a few other surprises along the way. Opening with a kickass track that pummels, the pace keeps going in a laid back groove that is still heavy with the second track.
Members Benno Hankers (vocals), Hannes Vollrath (guitar), Robert Hankers (bass), Maximilian Behr (drums) show a mastery of their instruments few others can. A segue to that mastery continues on “Defenders” which carries on heavy rocking rocking, giving way to the next track “Blueberry Gin” which is almost in honky tonk territory. Here I leave things as the rest of the album is just as kickass.
An outstanding release, NIGHT LASER's “Rats In The Cradle” is an overly satisfying journey of sleaze metal and much more. From the subject of love to Ed Gein is quite a stretch, but NIGHT LASER pull it off in elegant fashion. A great production, clean and crisp, pulls all of the excellent playing together. It's well worth the hour’s listen.
