HAUNTED PLASMA     “I”

By Octopi MIlls

Futuristic yet 1980s like, the themes set around subjects such as old-fashioned, new world brainwashing as well as the things that crawleth; things like artificial intelligence....these sorts of things. At times there is a pulse of electronic music , at times a slow bath of something to trap you later but not what could be called "jump scares." Parts of the music become danceable if one were inclined. There are mentions or words such as "Krautrock", "Orwelian", and "hypnotic" in the promotional sources, and these words stick.

Like fractals that have learned to ride a bike or rebuild a classic engine, the music takes a shambling sort of shape that wants free love but is found with terror. In this manner it is heady and binary, at times sounding like an old sci-fi film soundtrack and at equal times sounding like an affair of electronic and psychedelic things. Songs run lengthy and take a while to wind up or down and as time goes on,  it all just sort of takes hold like a medication kicking in slowly and one is taken advantage of in this way in that it becomes normal or usual. The music is all very insect like, I feel, in its manner and way, and one ponders if artificial intelligence and man are not somehow on a see saw here. But I know this is not quite the case; or is it somehow? There is a paranoia to the air of the songs as the collect together and hive into one's meanderings. I am left not knowing what to think about it, and unsure or confused, as if one was an abductee of some kind. Compellingly strange...
