That's a quote from the band's bio. Are you fucking kidding me? I just became a fan. A.) I hadn't listened to this record yet, and B.) I didn't know a thing about U.S. BASTARDS. I'd never even heard of them before, but after reading that, I was all in.
I'm writing this review while listening to “Negligent Discharge” for the very first time. My adrenaline is up, it's 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning, and I'm cracking open the first beer of the day. This record is amazing. Second beer to follow in a minute.
After nearly a decade of silence, U.S. BASTARDS return with the self-released “Negligent Discharge”, which dropped June 19. Take a listen to tracks like "Put the Gun in Your Mouth," "Everybody Sucks," and "Ripsnorter," and you'll be reminded why rock and roll infused with punk remains such a dangerous combination when it's done right. “Negligent Discharge” is built on a foundation of speed, attitude, and volume, drawing from the same dirty fuel source that powered MOTÖRHEAD, ZEKE, and HANK III.
U.S. BASTARDS deliver loud riffs, sneering vocals, and enough raw energy to leave skid marks across your speakers. Songs like "Bad Deeds" and "Police Violence" are packed with frustration, sarcasm, and street-level aggression, hitting with the force of a bar fight that spills out into the parking lot.
“Negligent Discharge” stands as one of the year's strongest punk-and-roll statements—a fast, filthy, unapologetic blast of sonic destruction. I like this record a lot. It really spoke to me. It's original, it's unique, and it's a mean machine from start to finish. Sure, there were a couple of tracks that didn't do much for me, but the highlights more than made up for them.
Buy this record, throw some elbows, and wake up the neighbors. “Negligent Discharge” easily sets a new high standard for this genre of music.
