CELESTIAL SANCTUARY have a new album hitting the streets April 11 titled “Visions Of Stagnant Blood” via Metal Blade Records and it’s a beast. In full transparency CELESTIAL SANCTUARY have been around since 2019 but this is the first time I’ve heard their music. I don’t say this lightly – their sonic output is nothing short of grind crushing mayhem.
“Visions Of Stagnant Blood” consists of four tracks -- "Visions Of Stagnant Blood," "Puddles Of You Reflect The Filth Within," "Choking On The Rotten Seed," and "Gavage Of The Vile." Clocking in at just over 23 minutes CELESTIAL SANCTUARY pour more heaviness into four songs than most bands do on a full-length album. Listening to this disc is an extinction level event. To say I’m impressed is an understatement.
After listening to the first track I was floored, how does it get better? Without warning track two kicked in and crushed my skull. “Visions Of Stagnant Blood” is equal parts doomy death metal and raw, primal madness. Think early NAPALM DEATH, BRUTAL TRUTH, CONAN, WITCH VOMIT, etc. CELESTIAL SANCTUARY have a “caveman” like quality to their music which they wield with deadly precision.
“Visions Of Stagnant Blood” is pure planetary destruction. Where a lot of bands try to impress with their technical expertise, CELESTIAL SANCTUARY assault you with their ten ton brand of filthy, volume-based death metal. I can’t recommend this disc enough. If there is a soundtrack to the apocalypse, “Visions Of Stagnant Blood” is it. This is a must buy record without any doubt.
