This seems to be a very long album in terms of running time. This in itself is great for fans, of cours…, however, I can surely see the merit of EPs after viewing many long albums that overstay their welcome.. The first song...the vocals are passionate enough to break any old levee and burst dams.
One must put on his best, as there are some long running themes in songs and intent here. Some tales can't be told in a few minutes and this point is driven here to be sure. But one must wonder what tale is being told...that is the old grey whistle test.
The lyrics, when examined are truly deep..
."Old man chicken hands....Jitterbugging in the Nightmare Palace whilst the bombs fall"
Wild lyrics, wild vocal performance here, making the music quite secondary. There is simply no way to say this any other way.
Not since Albert Witchfinder's concepts have I heard something this crazy...but there is no humor to be had here. This comes with such a disgust of humanity that it truly has to be heard to be known. The music is made by capable musicians but it is secondary and nearly meaningless compared to whatever this message truly is. Tortured, sprawling and quite confused it seems, this "album" shakes one to the core. The black scorn here is overwhelming...beyond most of what I have heard in its delivery, and this is the vocalist.
Growing old here, it seems nearly a nursing home saga of pure black hatred and depression, and it's the kind that makes you walk funny afterwards. The female vocals, as they are, are nearly meaningless, as is the music, as it serves as a cage to the themes. The sick, syrupy doom of something akin to MY DYING BRIDE is present in what is impressed to me by the music:; mock violin, blow-your-brains-out melodies.
The performance of the vocalist is surely quite unhinged...and this to me is the only thing to save this music and the very indulgent running time. I don't quite know what to say about this one as this truly has to be heard and not just once. There is an overall English mode here, and one given in the fall of the country of present due to religious madness, well....go figure? But what do i know? I'll have to return to this one, surely. It is simply too much to take in a night or perhaps ever. Definitely not something to listen to on the way to the store or down a old dirt road with friends- NO, this one is a haunting affair. Be prepared ,dear listener...
