CRANIAL DISORDER “Congenital Depravity”

In Indonesia, they take their brutal death metal seriously. It doesn’t seem to be a trend to hop on because it’s “hot”. It’s as underground as it gets and there are those who don’t take kindly to the unholy racket. CRANIAL DISORDER is a the latest product of the islands and they know what they’re on about.
Despite the exotic location, this sounds 100% professional and could easily be on a label like Relapse or Unique Leader. A clear yet brutal sound, based on giants like SUFFOCATION, DYING FETUS, ABORTED and even more subterranean acts like DEEDS OF FLESH and DEFEATED SANITY. To paraphrase Foghorn Leghorn, it’s all about riffs, son….riffs! They deal a lot of ‘em here...after a long intro, “The Remaining Lust” hits hard with a whirlwind of crisp, blazingly fast brutality. Although the band don’t really go for the catchy primitive style of songwriting, there’s a definite flow to their music that makes the tracks more than just rage for rage’s sake. “Exalting The Perversion” hits the same way that DEICIDE’s first two albums did, with efficient butchery. You can spot what bands inspired a riff easily, but they fuse it together in such a way that it doesn’t sound like second-rate hackwork.
Outside of the realm of brutal death, there’s not much appeal here, but like I said at the beginning, they take this seriously in Indonesia. Posers will die a lingering demise after hearing “Congenital Depravity”.
