ORGAN DEALER–“The Weight of Being”

by Thor

New Jersey’s grindcore cretins ORGAN DEALER return with “The Weight of Being”—a new LP featuring 21 tracks of face-melting grind.

This is my first exposure to ORGAN DEALER, and, as a longtime grindcore enthusiast, I can attest to being blown the fuck away. These guys execute the genre exactly the way it’s idealized in my head. It’s savagely pissed off, extremely fast and precise, and sonically powerful. No slop. No distracting dissonance or poor production. “The Weight of Being” is an exercise in aural violence and, frankly, it should come with a helmet and a harness, because if you don’t strap in, this album is going to blow you up.

The songs are short Molotov cocktails of piss-‘n-vinegar, featuring a cacophony of blast beats courtesy of drummer Eric Schnee, and the chaotic buzzsaw riffing of axman Jeff Knoblauch. Trevor Graham delivers a tight, subsonic beatdown … you wanna hear what grind sounds like? Peep that bass tone! And the tip of the spear is the outstanding and absolutely vicious performance by screamer Scot Moriarty (who’s not actually in the band having been replaced by permanent vocalist Chris Ward).

Fans of bands like NAILS, P.L.F., NOISEAR, and PHOBIA will find a lot to like here. In fact, if you’re a fan of grindcore at all, then ORGAN DEALER’s “The Weight of Being” is as close to a sure bet as you’re going to get.
