I gotta give a big shout out to the METAL TEMPLE website for turning me on to this amazing act, which I surely would have never known about without their review of it. Thanks, fellas! Wow, this is gonna wind up on my Top 10 list for sure! These lewd and crude Frenchmen play an insanely fun brand of punked-up metal rock with the foot on the gas. Think of a mix of MOTORHEAD and ZEKE with a dash of rockabilly and you have CHRIS ROLLING SQUAD in a nutshell. I enjoyed their rude brand of "action rock" immensely!
After a mean and metallic sounding intro "Pendejos 666", CHRIS and the SQUAD blast into the title track, which blows your head off with a MOTORHEAD influenced speed racer that takes no prisoners. These three dudes are tighter than a 10 year old Miley Cyrus and are in complete lockstep with each other. CHRIS' lead guitar work is absolutely scorching, but his vocals are not the gravel-chewing gruffness I expected but something more "normal", almost sounding like the guy from THE OFFSPRING.
Don't let that scare you away, because this album delivers ripper after ripper. The likes of "Loaded Gun", "Blind" (So Fucking Blind), "Can You See Me Coming" and "Till The Day I Die" all blast on full volume and with maximum speed that would make even ZEKE sweat. The SQUAD also play some songs that have more of a straight rock or even rockabilly feel, but kicked up to 11, like "A Van To Load", "Bad Motherfucker" and "Night Got Me Runnin'". Think of a faster, harder REV. HORTON HEAT. Every track here is as catchy as Covid, even the instrumental "Cannonball Holocaust", which is one of the most killer tracks on the whole album. Everything ends with the over the top vulgarity of "The F-Word Song". In case you haven't figured it out, these guys are not exactly kid-friendly. They're as raunchy as any punk band you could think of. The chain-smoking nun giving everybody the finger on the cover kinda gives that away...
This one came out of nowhere! I had a total blast listening to this!
