When I saw the name of the album was "Witching Attack", my first question was "how much does this sound like SODOM"? The answer is...a LOT. This thing has 1984 written all over it and more!
LEAD INJECTOR from Germany emerges as a guilty pleasure for sure. The odor of evil German speed metal is so thick you could choke on it. Influence from SODOM, DESTRUCTION, KREATOR and lesser known outfits like DARKNESS and VECTOM are all over "Witching Attack" and there's nothing new about it. Hell, half the roster of Dying Victims Productions has the same kind of sound. But a monster thrashing riff conquers all and this fucker has them by the bucketload. The tracks are remarkably catchy in the same way early SODOM, VENOM and BATHORY were. And true to the press sheet description, the tracks all have their own identity, too.,
It's also got Satan up the wazoo like I haven't heard in a while. Forget the "philosophical" style of the 90's black metal bands...this is sheer blasphemy for those kids who filled their school notebooks with pentagrams, devils and upside down crosses. "Sacrifice This Bitch" and "Angel Destructor" are super endearing because of this raw, pure evil.
No doubt about it, it is kind of creepy with the pure plagiarism of SODOM and the like, but goddammit, I was headbanging like a fiend to the likes of "Evil Executioner" and "M.C.C.I." Just no way to argue with THE RIFF! This record is a total time machine!
