In the next 35 minutes you will experience a pummeling, an exploration of fear, a breaking of sound barriers, an intense longing, some discordant wavelengths from emotions, a dystopian future ala “Mad Max”, being a captive, and we will also undergo some long awaited wind therapy. All this will be brought to you by Germany's SINTAGE via their new album “Unbound Triumph”. They are a band with an air of mystery because the members have no last names. Last nameless and pounding their way through these experiences are Randy on vocals, Andre on drums, Julez on guitar, Marcus on bass, and Chili on guitar.
Running through eight tracks, SINTAGE brings us speed; they bring us heavy; they bring us power. Paying a savagely ferocious respect to underground 80s metal they also carry the flag for modern metal. Seeing that SINTAGE are carrying a flag nodding to the 80s, it must be stated that they still sound modern in doing so. While at the same time putting their own stamp on modern heavy metal “Unbound Triumph” soars through the atmosphere with aplomb never showing any chinks in its armor although they are defiantly breaking their chains.
“Ramming Speed” is the intro track that will start the experience. At full force it introduces us to Randy's Minoru Niihara style vocals. Exploring fears we are “Cutting The Stars”. “Electric Walls” are going to be broken down with the "devil's sound." We shall cry “Silent Tears” in the vein of “Cries In The Night” and “Sleeping (In The Fire)” by W.A.S.P. This rounds out an excellent front half of the album.
Continuing the journey into the back half of the album we travel through some “Blood Upon The Stage”. A barnstorming track stating "we're gonna make you bleed." After we stop bleeding we take a detour through the sands of “Beyond The Thunderdome”. Of course we raced alongside “Mad” where "lightning strikes." After our victorious stop at Thunderdome we are going forth to become a “Prisoner Of The Dark”. Here we are held captive with a fist pumping chorus in celebration of or in deference to said dark? Have no fear as we take a ride getting in some much needed wind therapy with “One With The Wind”. Refreshed with hair blown back, thus concluding our experience. Feel free to re-experience repeatedly and loudly!
SINTAGE deploys a tight bottom end pounded out by Andre and Marcus, and powerful soaring vocals by Randy. Excellent guitar work via Julez and Chili, who are up front in the mix, they are on their way to join the class of twin axe masters like Glenn and K.K., Adrian and Dave, or even Malcolm and Angus. SINTAGE's “Unbound Triumph” is a shredder of an album that kicks the door in and departs never taking a single name or at least any last names. Hopefully you have found the experience pleasurable too. “Unbound Triumph” is for fans of IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, CHASTAIN or any fans of any of the many twin axe masters out there. They have wrought 35 minutes worth of blisteringly powerful heavy speed metal that is a must for any heavy metal collector's collection!
