The war between KFC and McDonald's gets physical on the cover of this EP from whacky Canadian band YEAH, SICK! Ronald delivers a devastating blow to Colonel Sanders' mug on the cover. The details of this colossal grudge match are detailed on the song "Fast Feud"!
What in the name of Irving R. Levine do we have here?! YEAH, SICK are obviously playing for laughs and I have to admit a chuckle or two provoked by the absurdity of "Fast Feud". What kind of music is it, though? Well, if you love a bass groove so fat that it has a calorie count, you'll will like this band. There's no guitar at all...just the bouncy bass of Dazz Powell, the manic vocals of Frosty Frost-Camilleri and the locked in drumming of Benito Martinez. And that's pretty much it! The basic flow of the tracks can be described as punk rock, but due to the bass, there's a bit of a PRIMUS feel as well.
It's all pretty goofy and silly with songs like "Yes, My Gatekeeper" and "A Trolley Out The Front" but Dazz's basswork is outstanding and Frosty's array of vocal styles from cartoony whines to death metal roars keeps you on your toes. I think an EP is perfect for these guys, as anything over a half hour would start to get tedious from YEAH, SICK! This is harmless, heavy fun with groove to spare.
