"UNDERGROUND METAL THE WAY IT SHOULD SOUND RETURNS TO KOLBOTN!" -
FENRIZ (DARKTHRONE)
Well, well, this is what is stated in the promotional script and looks to be endorsed by Fenriz himself and it is also on Peaceville, DARKTHRONE's long faithful label.
Boasting two members who have had dealings in AURA NOIR and CONDOR, it seems things could get interesting in the house tonight. Also the band name means "powerless", which I am sure is meant to denote some genius to the cunning fellow who came up with such a deeply thought concept. A promo pic shows two fellows, one dressed in metal regalia and another looking like he would sell you insurance in 1966 before killing you with a screwdriver and running your car into a lonely bay on a mountain coastal area. Enough of this though, the music must be had.
The production is grim and of an old Norse era begone, bringing about visuals of hunting magazines painted with artwork of frosty hues. The guitars are thrashy but thinly grim, and in this manner, it sounds like someone took a thinking man's shit and named the song "Ordinance" during the revelation. The music sounds of stoney peaks and climbs where the boreal forest and firs abound in darkly loamy longing. "Poison Reveal" reveals the formula in continuation like a spiky landscape and "Sharpening Blades of Cynicism" sounds partial to DARKTHRONE as does it all somewhat. "Charred" dredges along a slower trowelling pace before turning back into what the album is. Thin, sharp, biting, icy, old black metal is what it is. For fans of DARKTHRONE, AURA NOIR and the like.
