NITA STRAUSS     “The Call Of The Void”

By Iron Sheik

NITA STRAUSS displays her versatility in the hard rock world with “The Call Of The Void”. Although NITA may have spent some time touring with DEMI LOVATO, she is  again one of three guitarists for ALICE COOPER, and back in full force shredding on her new solo album. “The Call Of The Void” displays that versatility with an array of guests from varying styles of rock and metal. Playing hard rock on one song and then moving into a shredding thrash groove on the next, she seems to do it effortlessly.

The album opens with “Summer Storm”, a heavy hitting instrumental. It hints at what fierceness is to come next with “The Wolf You Feed” featuring Alissa White-Gluz of ARCH ENEMY fame. This is easily one of the heavier tracks, and after a Chris Motionless led track her next few guest dominated tunes and instrumentals shift gears. You get Lizzy Hale, David Draiman, and Dorothy before another couple of instrumentals. Amped up again with rager “The Golden Trail” featuring Anders Friden of IN FLAMES crashes into my favorite track by none other than ALICE COOPER, “Winner Takes All”. Dorothy's turn singing “Victorious” is my other favorite track on the album. LILITH CZAR fronts a track as NITA gets ready to close the void. Two instrumentals close the album but not without a slight twist. Closing track “Surfacing” features Marty Friedman while “Echoes of Cacophony” provides a great ending to this shred fest.

Melodic, heavy, and unrelenting music is what you will get whether she has a guest vocalist or it is an instrumental. NITA's versatility within the Void gives her a jawdropping awesome aural pleasure hour across styles. NITA's soon to be heard even more as she plays on the new ALICE COOPER album “Road”.
