DEAD HEAT are getting ready to roll out their forthcoming record, “Process Of Elimination”, October 10 via Metal Blade Records. This disc is the band's first release since their 2023 EP, “Endless Torment”. Fingers crossed, folks.
“Process Of Elimination” is pretty much what you’d expect from these guys musically – crossover thrash – except, wait for it…this album makes a musical statement. What could that musical statement be in 2025 you ask? Why, their repulsion for the powers that be.
I feel like I’m inundated with politics on more than a daily basis, to the point of feeling burned out, and now I’m getting smacked over the head here with more politics? Pass. Strike number one.
For the most part the songs on “Process Of Elimination” are simply OK. Let me be clear about this. They’re not great nor bad, they’re what you’d expect – OK. The problem is, I want great. I got great from POWER TRIP and FUGITIVE, now I want the same from DEAD HEAT.
If you’re wondering why I mentioned POWER TRIP and FUGITIVE it’s because the vocals (and much of the music) on this record bear more than a passing resemblance to both bands. In fact, if I’m being one hundred percent honest here, the similarities between DEAD HEAT and POWER TRIP (and FUGITIVE) are so much so that it distracts and takes away from fully appreciating both ‘Process Of Elimination” and DEAD HEAT as well. For me this is strike two.
I won’t go any further with this review. I’ve said what I needed to, and I won’t be giving this record my full recommendation, but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t check it out. “Process Of Elimination” isn’t bad, it’s just that I’ve heard this music before and I’m not getting anything new here. Catch DEAD HEAT on tour, they look like a fun band live.
