IRON LIZARDS “Hungry For Action”

“Hungry For Action” serves as a great description for this musical smash and grab assault. These French reptiles are the poster boys for fierce efficiency in music...no song here reaches the 3:00 minute mark and every second of the time used is given maximum power. Honestly, this is one of the best musical illustrations of “keep it simple, stupid” to come across my desk.
You can probably guess what these guys are about. Speedy, savage and brisk hard rock in the vein of ZEKE, PETER PAN SPEEDROCK, GLUCIFER and even old masters like MC5. They used to call this “action rock” back in the day and it’s not something you see a lot of these days. IRON LIZARDS are as good at it as anybody’s gonna be in 2021. “It’s About Time!” kicks things off with a furious jolt that’s not quite pure punk, but it comes awful close. From there, we are off to the races for the next 11 tracks, all of which rock like a motherfucker.
A couple of tracks have slight differences. “Obey...Annihilate!” is a chapter from the book of MOTORHEAD while “Deathride” is almost like 90’s noise rock mixed with a kind of rockabilly kick. But most of the tracks here are just down and dirty rockers on the fast side.
Great, uncomplicated album for the switchblade-packing, leather-wearing badass in all of us…
