Teeming out of Madrid, Spain, STRANGERS, replete with an endless enthusiasm, burst forth with album number four, “Boundless”. An apropos description of the record and its atmosphere is in the title there. Although the songs are radio friendly rock they rock harder than the typical polished keyboard heavy hard rock norm. Not being a polished keyboard driven rock radio group sets them apart, and it allows music lovers of the heavier side of rock along with those lovers of the lighter side of heavy rock to enjoy what they hear after being enchanted by the vocals, and music that ensues.
Frontwoman Celia Barloz has an atmospheric almost angelic voice which pairs well with the exceptional guitar work of Miguel Martín. Propelled by a class act bottom end thunder by drummer Abel Ramos and bassist César Chacón who are the sonic force that holds the album together. I cannot go forth without saying Celia and Co remind me of SARAYA and their late 80s rocker “Love Has Taken Its Toll”.(There’s a name I haven’t heard in ages!--Dr. M)
After repeated listens I have not been able to pinpoint a favorite track or tracks. All that means is that the tracks are all great as they all lean into a mid pace groove that does not cause any one track to be lesser than the last. This is a solid catchy album front to back, and with a line stating "I'm still the one" it makes for an excellent opener and descriptor to bring one into the music of STRANGERS. With curiosity aroused, it will be fascinating to see where STRANGERS goes from here.
STRANGERS is definitely a friend in the waiting while that friendship is just a touch away. Press play to experience “Boundless”, an album steeped in passion. I had never heard of STRANGERS until “Boundless” was sent my way to review, and I feel I have missed something by not hearing of the band nor their first three albums, yet. As my IV beeps I am drifting off silently into sleep with thoughts and sounds of a new friend that is eleven stories later no stranger. No limits, vast and infinite is the “Boundless” sound of 2025 STRANGERS!
