THE BLEEDING

THE BLEEDING    “Monokrator”

By Theron Moore

When I was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, a buddy of mine drove me into a classified section of the base where they did weapons experiments. I saw a massive chunk of concrete that researchers fired a missile into, to study the impact. I can only imagine what it looked and sounded like when they did that.

That experience is what I thought about when I heard the first two tracks from THE BLEEDING’s new record “Monokrator”, due out June 9 via Redefining Darkness Records.“Chemical Lobotomy” and “Chainsaw Deathcult” practically took my head off. I kept waiting for the intensity to let up and it never did. Each song progressively got more dangerous, more damaging, and more lethal.

“Monokrator” is THE BLEEDING’s third full length record. It’s the better parts of EXODUS, SODOM, DESTRUCTION, and SLAYER wrapped up in a sound that’s brutal, vicious, and completely unrelenting. “Monokrator” is a thrash metal tank of shred worthy riffs and razor wire vocals that run you over and laugh in the rear view mirror doing it. After listening to this album THE BLEEDING are in my opinion, the most underrated metal band on Earth.

Although the band pays homage to the glory days of thrash “Monokrator” is anything but hero worship. It’s a modern day ass kicking which never lets up. I’m not exaggerating when I say all eight tracks on this record are killer, no filler. Stand out tunes include the first two I mentioned as well as “Union Of Horror” and the title track, “Monokrator.” Rarely have I been so impressed as I am with this album, especially from a band I’m only now learning about. The sheer intensity of this thrash assault is right up there with SLAYER’s “Reign In Blood” and EXODUS’ “Fabulous Disaster”. “Monokrator” earns 5 stars and is a must buy from this critic.
