HATE MANIFESTO

HATE MANIFESTO     “ΑΠΟΣΤΑΤΗΣ”

By Dr. Abner Mality

Yes, the band is Greek and they live up to all the promise that’s in their name. This record is sheer brutality from start to finish and can be described as war metal. Most of that breed comes across extremely boring and HATE MANIFESTO does become exhausting to listen to, but they avoid the worst excesses of the war metal genre. For one thing, they’ve got a decent production where all instruments can be clearly heard, not the usual tuneless mush. The clarity helps the riffing stand out.

And that riffing is another secret to their success. Everything here comes at you in a furious volcanic blast, but there are changes in riff and tempo so that monotony is avoided. Many of the tracks here execute a transition in the last third that keeps things from falling into boredom. And man, these guys have inexhaustible rage for sure. Think of early KRISIUN and ANGELCORPSE,,,a crispy baked combination of black and death metal, with roars to match and almost military style drumming that is machine-like in precision.

Are these guys super right wingers or Nazis? I dunno, but almost every band working this style gets accused of that whether it’s true or not. Song titles like “Extinction Ordained”, “Sworn to Hatred” and “Decimation Order” won’t do anything to allay suspicions but you’re not gonna get love songs from a band called HATE MANIFESTO anyway. You’re gonna get hate and lots of it. This is utter brutality.
