No nonsense bulldozing brutality is offered up by this Polish death squad, who I'm surprised I've never heard of before this. I sound like a broken record when I say this is nothing new...and that lack of identity does hurt this some...but I'd also be lying if I said my ass wasn't kicked seven ways to Sunday by the intense racket CLAIRVOYANCE conjured here.
Only six tracks and the record is short, but they make the most of it. Their style has that crisp, clean Polish brutality ala VADER, but kicked up to the levels of a CANNIBAL CORPSE or ASPHYX. First track "Eternal Blaze" is punishing, but wow, have we heard this before or what? Fortunately, the record gets more and more intense as it rumbles along, reaching a peak on "Fleshmachine". Goddamn, what a killer death metal tune, original or no! Excellent riffing throughout and Maciej Cesarczyk's roars are as guttural as anybody you could name.
"Reign of Silence" is another crackerjack bulldozer of a tune and "Blood Divine" seems faster and more predatory than anything that has gone before. They say a good album is one that leaves you wanting more and that's the way I felt when "Chasm of Immurement" wrapped up. The uncomfortable truth is that the death metal scene is so glutted these days, CLAIRVOYANCE may not stand out no matter how brutal they are.
