In certain quarters, having an album cover that looks like it was drawn by a 10 year old who just saw "Make Them Die Slowly" for the first time is a mark of quality. That's the crowd that Finland's SADISTIC DRIVE is aiming for. Needless to say, there's a heavy AUTOPSY/IMPETIGO feeling attached to this platter of pus, gristle and vomit.

This is simple death metal for people who like it mean, ugly and sick. One of the band members wears a DEMOLITION HAMMER T-shirt and another one wears GRAVE. That's a great illustration of what the band sounds like. Songs are fast, raw and generally short, with some slower moments to add sick atmosphere. It's not quite as Swedish sounding as I thought it might be. The Finns take a lot of inspiration from that scene, but they subtly twist it to their own design. A smorgasbord of repulsive song titles also conveys a lot of SADISTIC DRIVE's intent; here we have "Acid Vomit", "Worm Eaten Abomination" and "Disease-ridden Pervert". Not a lot of ambiguity here.

That's about all there is to say about "Anthropophagy". Music for people who can't wait for somebody eyeballs to fly out of their head in a horror movie...
