This is the second release from thrashers Power Trip from the big state of Texas. Wow, I just say… wow. I did not expect such a complete metal feast. First time listening to this CD I was in love. It reminds me so much of the hey days of metal. Nuclear Assault, Testament, Overkill, it is all built in here. You can hear those influences just reeking all the way through this CD. I have not heard their first one, so I cannot compare. But, this sophomore release really impresses me.
There are so many memorable riffs and solos I can safely say this will be a classic metal album. There is not much grandstanding here as far as musical talent goes, but it is right on time and perfect as far as a true thrash album is concerned. “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)” is such an example of total pure thrash if there ever was one. With the break outs, change ups, and thumping drums and bass, I just love every song on this CD. I’ll keep this short and sweet. If you like thrash metal, power metal, or just plain metal, you will not be disappointed in this CD. My gods this is one of the best new metal efforts I have listened to lately. Going back to the true roots of metal.
