A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH

"And Hell Will Follow Me"

 By Dark Starr

This group seems destined to have fans right out of the gate. The group includes members of Type O Negative, Life of Agony and Biohazard, with the guiding force being ex-Type O man Sal Abruscato. They’ve released a disc that provides some great heavy metal sounds, but not at the sacrifice of the groove. This is moody, but also very tasty. It calls to mind Stone Temple Pilots on cuts such as "As Black As My Heart" and "Heroin Train", but is heavier than that. With the cut "To Die In Your Arms", there's something weightier and more epic going on than elsewhere. There’s not a huge amount of variety from song to song, but it never feels tired or redundant. That's an admirable trick to pull off and it makes this album special. I'd single out "Serial Killer" with its tasty groove and well-placed mellow section as the best track on show.

Many kudos as well for the cover art...some of the best seen this year!
