HAUNT

"Luminous Eyes"

by Octopi Mills

An EP, or mini-album on Shadow Kingdom records. The sound is straight out of the eighties. It has that feel of muscle cars, hot dogs and hamburgers, and mom and pop places first introduced to the big machine without knowing yet the danger . Heavy metal in the old school vein- the son of  the Montrose bassist plays here. The album cover sounds like the music; a time when heavy metal had it's way; feathered hair, tight spandex, jean jackets, spiked gloves and bullet belts. Guitars have solos and the production sounds like the album was all made with the same mic placements and all the levers were the same, as is usually done and not necessarily a bad thing. Nearly too late for it's time, it does things to cause bigotry in a musical sense to me; I recall Night Ranger, knowing full well it's not fair. There is a NWOBHM sort of feel, and it seems like it could have been right out of the aforementioned era.
